Now defunct Sophie Ellis-Bexter and Billy Reeves project that missed its time by about two years - because who wants literate britpop when britpop is a burned out husk?


Essential?
Its probably a sad fact that - for all the work and sweat and posters slapped around the corners of the earth - the band did nothing that comes as close to being essential as Sophie's subsequent vocals for song of summer 2000 Groovejet, but debut single "if you can't do it when you're young" is not without its charms. The band had an irritating habit of giving their songs names that were way too long - A pessimist is never disappointed, for example - which gave some hint of the over-elaborate constructions that lurked behind them

Very much "the band sophie ellis-bexter was in before she was famous"

Trvial details:
Sophie Ellis Bexter has her own Richard Gere's hamster, as she still has to deny that she was the pregnancy that allegedly got her mum, Janet, booted off Blue Peter. Do the maths, it doesn't stack up, does it? Sophie has a strange shaped head.
