Swervedriver
some
muffled noise
Who?
Almost
a one-band BritNoise scene, all on their own
Where did they get their
crazy name?:
Well,
it was marginally better than their previous effort, Shake Appeal
Yes, Anna, they came from:
Oxford,
at the time when that city was just starting to become a seething hotbed of
experimentation and noise
Essential?
Alan
McGee thought so - he was so impressed he signed them up to Creation before
the herd-like instincts of the masses gave him access to Oasis-sized piles
of cash to muck about with. The longer they got on, they less listenable they
became, so any of the early Creation stuff is probably going to be worth a
listen.
Popstars in Reduced Circumstances?
Making
pre-grunge grunge in the Home Counties is never going to pay the rent, and
as far as we know, they never survived to watch Pearl Jam do a less-pleasing
take on their material to acclaim and applause.
In a nutshell, then:
My
Bloody Valentine, only someone's put sand in the honey
Never mind the music, give
us trivia:
The
band had an extra couple of seconds in the son after Craig from The Vines
was pohotographed wearing one of their tshirts
