Black Box Recorder

"Why don't they make planes out the stuff they make black boxs out of" - traditional

Who?
One of the many Luke Haines projects that waves a gun in the face of casual pop. Like a twisted fuck with your sister, you know that its probably wrong, but it feels so good. Here, Haines works with Sarah Nixey, the face you always picture when you're daydreaming about being unfaithful, and John Moore, the guy who invented Liverpool Poly

Essential?
The Facts of Life gave them a hit - a surprise, not because it didn't deserve to make the charts, but because having Black Box Recorder in the top ten is like seeing the Pope in a stripshow. Only in reverse. You also need England Made Me, by the way. And the Art of Driving... Oh, just see what audiogalaxy has to offer...

Obscure?
Almost certain to be a question on Ken Bruce's pop quiz in mid-2005

Trivial details:
Sarah Nixey is on the point of giving birth to her and John's first child. Luke Haines has - apparently seriously - proposed a Black Box Recorder tour of schools to teach children about responsible sexuality. The consequential rise in fucked-up kids is probably part of his plan.

Not to be confused with:
Black Box, Italian house band who achieved a massive hit with Ride on Time. This feat was achieved mainly through using the vocal talents of Lara Hatthaway, only they used someone sexier for any visual work.
